Fresh Cut

Mark has been saying for the past few weeks that he wanted to cut Mason's hair with a 1 blade instead of the usual 3. I have been consistently saying NO!! But today I didn't win, Mark gave Mason the option and he chose 1. I could have cried when I saw his hair, but at least it's not permanent and it will grow back. He WILL NOT be cutting it that short again( or at least not while he's so little.) Here is a before and after picture. He's still super cute but I like his hair longer!

Weekend Wrap Up

Mark worked a double over the weekend so it was a perfect time to visit my mom. My mom got Mason a knight helmet since he really loves knights right now. He loved it!!

Saturday afternoon I thought it would be fun to take the kiddos to the new aquarium at Grapevine Mills. Boy was I wrong. There was a ton of people because of the tax free weekend and it was rather hard to maneuver a double stroller through the crowds. Also for what we paid to get in we could have gone to the Dallas Aquarium which is way bigger and so much cooler.

Aunt Shana and the kiddos!

We ended the day with dinner at Pizza Inn and watching a movies at my moms.

Sunday we went swimming with Aunt Shana, Uncle Rusty and Mikayla. I don't have any pics but we had a really good time!

Maddie is 8 months old

Saturday Maddie turned 8 months! I know I say this every month but seriously time seems like it has just flown by.

Maddie has changed so much just in one month. She has moved up to the crawler room at her school even though she's not technically crawling yet. She does crawl backwards and rolls to get where she wants to be.

She has been having some separation anxiety. She really wants to be held by me lately. I know I need to cherish this time because they are only this small once, but it is hard when you must divide your time between another child, housework and a husband.

Maddie weighs 17 pounds and is still in the 26th percentile. She is a petite little thing! She is wearing 6 to 9 month clothes and our next purchase of diapers will be a size 3.
Maddie is eating 3 solid meals a day and drinking about 24 ounces of formula on a good day. We finally got out the high chair this month and Maddie enjoys snacking on cheerios while mommy cooks dinner. We also introduced the sippy cup. She does fairly well with it.

Maddie is still waking at least once in the night and takes at least two naps during the day.
She is still toothless and haven't seen any real signs of teething yet.

Maddie says mama all the time and she definitely let's you know if she is unhappy. Maddie is somewhat selective with who she will laugh for but always will laugh at her big brother. It is going to be so fun watching them play together and watch out for each other as they get older.
Happy 8 Months Maddie!

Weekend Wrap Up

We spent the weekend camping again! We had to take the camper out one more time to make sure everything was working for our big Disney trip coming up!!! I wish I could say that it was smooth sailing all weekend but that would be a lie. We had a few electrical issues but I think(fingers crossed) that we may have it all worked out.
When we weren't working on the camper we enjoyed swimming, fishing, playing on the playground and hanging with the rest of the family.

Mikayla caught 7 fish! She was a great fisherman!!!

We also took a little drive to Tyler and visited the Discovery Museum! If you brought something recycled you got in for free that day. It was pretty cool. They had a bunch of hands on stuff for the kids.

They had a little newsroom setup that Mason loved. We spent quite a bit of time here.

Mark and Maddie reading the news!!

We didn't bring the stroller this time so we had to take turns carrying Maddie and what seemed like 20 pound diaper bag.  Seriously won't be leaving the house without the stroller again!
Mikayla really liked the ambulance!

She was a little much for this scale!!

We had a great weekend! Aunt Erin was actually on the trip with us but somehow I didn't get any pictures of her or the rest of the family that went camping.  Sorry Erin!!
We are now on official countdown to Disney!! Just a few more weeks! So Excited!!!

After getting the kids dressed this morning I snapped a few pics before we left the house. They were both wearing Douglas shirts. It is the first time that Maddie has worn something that was originally Masons.
Mason said to Maddie "we match so we can play together." I can't believe they are both looking at the camera!

Mason took about 10 pics of me and Maddie and this is the only one that wasn't blurry. I feel like I don't have very many pics with the kids. I definitely want to change that!

Lunch with my boys!

Yesterday Mark picked Mason up from school early so they could hang out together. I met them at Oh Mcdonald's ( as Mason would say) for lunch. Not my favorite meal by any means, but worth getting to see my two favorite boys on my lunch break!

August Birthday Fun!!

Saturday we celebrated all of the August birthdays in the family.  We have quite a few(Mom, Grandma, Nini and Mark.)  Uncle Mark and Aunt Jeannie rented a huge inflatable waterslide and the whole family came over.  We had the best time. We played volleyball and had quite a competive game of flag football, which my body is still paying for two days later.  Mason went down the slide once and came off a little frazzled and he didn't want to go back.  We eventually got him back on and he loved it.  The slide was probably a little too intense for Maddie so she was passed around most of the day.  I don't think she minds being held!

"One small step for Mason, one giant leap for mom's sanity!"

Potty training started off to be a relatively easy process. We started this journey back in April because Mason woke up one morning and said he didn't want to wear a diaper anymore. It was very spur of the moment and very unplanned but I went with it because he was willing and we haven't been back to diapers since. The first few weeks of being diaper free weren't so bad. We would remind Mason usually every 30 minutes to an hour and he would go or at least try. I expected accidents hear and there, so mentally I had prepared myself. Over the next few months he could go longer stretches at a time but would still need to be reminded. He gets so busy playing I think he just forgets.
The one thing I had not prepared myself for were all the number 2 accidents. I knew that it might take a little longer for him to get the concept being a boy in all, but I never once dreamed it would take 4 long months! I knew Mason was smart enough and knew the concept of what to do, so I had high expectations for him. This is where I was wrong. My sweet mother reminded me the other day that we all know in our head what to do but sometimes our bodies just aren't there yet. So I began to back off asking him every five minutes if he needed to go.
So all this to say that Mason has gone number 2 in the potty at least 3 times this week. The best part about it was that he told me he needed to go and I haven't had to clean out any poopy underwear this week!!! This is such a huge accomplishment for Mason and I am so proud of him. I'm sure there will be more accidents in our future but I think it's important to celebrate the small steps!!

These are a few of the toys he got for going to the potty. Bribery was a last resort, but hey it worked :)

Water Park Fun

Sunday We celebrated my mother-in-laws birthday by going to Hawaiian Falls Water Park!  I knew Mason would love the water like always but I was a little worried about Maddie.  But it turns out she had the best time.  She absolutely loved the water.  We stayed until she was pooped but unfortunately wasn't long enough for Mason.  Hopefully we can go back again because we all had a great time!
Maddie looked so cute in her pink bikini!

 Wore smooth out!!!
